Final Compilation
INTRODUCTION
- the research problem looks more like a statement.
- reduce the amount of words in the research problem as it is suppose to be just one sentence or 2.
- Add third question
-
Research where people can get the information on how they learn the new trends
Discuss whether it is in preproduction(designing) part / post production (audience)
Week 5 (21/05/24):
General Feedback:
-
Focus on one (preferably 2d)
-
Get opinions on animators / professionals
-
Focus on designing part, on the production part ( only 2 questions)
General Feedback:
- can proceed
-
number your research questions.
-
can be video call, don't have to be physical
-
find animation lecturers can be sir (he can provide seniors animators) or any animation lecturer from here
-
talk to them about whether the education is doing the right things to prepare future animators
-
find ppl with different background and get them into a focus group discussion
-
find ppl with 2d transition to 3d animating
-
choose interview
-
one method per question
-
add more questions just incase
-
for interview, need way more questions because it is more in-depth
whether they have the skills in blender or…?
-
ask whether 3d animators need to have 2d animation training before doing this?
-
show examples of 2d animation (latest gibli or attack on titan) 2s animations that have 3d inside as well
-
provide the age group and location for data collection
-
can mix students who are third years or have been working for 1 year or more.
Lecturers are necessary.
-
does not have to be one specific group of people
- Get started on the slides.
- Reduce the words in the slides
- add more relevant information
- don's have to be one slide per question
- just summaries it to the main points
Experience:
Throughout the module, I have had the invaluable opportunity to delve deeply into the process of conducting research specifically tailored to my area of interest—Digital Animation. This journey has allowed me to explore various methodologies and gain industry insights through an array of articles and interviews with seasoned industry experts. Engaging with these resources has significantly enriched my understanding of research practices and critical reviews. Beyond the technical aspects, this experience has broadened my perspective on the dynamic field of Digital Animation, highlighting the nuances and complexities that define the industry. Each step of this process has not only enhanced my academic knowledge but also reinforced my passion for my specialization, equipping me with a solid foundation for future endeavors.
Observations:
One of the most striking observations I made during this module is the paramount importance of having a well-structured research paper. It became evident that the organization of information plays a crucial role in ensuring the reader's comprehension and engagement. Knowing precisely what information belongs in each section of the paper is vital for clarity and coherence. A disorganized paper, with scattered information, can obscure the main points and confuse the reader. Additionally, understanding the relevance of information is essential. Including irrelevant or unnecessary details can clutter the paper, making it unnecessarily lengthy and diluting its impact. This observation underscored the need for meticulous planning and careful consideration of content in academic writing.
Findings:
Through this module, I have gained a comprehensive understanding of different research methods and the standards that determine their reliability. For instance, when conducting surveys, a substantial sample size of at least 100 responses is necessary to achieve reliable results. In contrast, focus groups and interviews require a smaller, more targeted group of participants relevant to the industry. I discovered that focus groups are particularly effective, as they involve in-depth discussions among industry experts, providing rich, qualitative insights. These interactions offer a profound understanding of the industry, capturing diverse perspectives and experiences. The practical application of these methods has enhanced my appreciation for the rigor and precision required in academic research, preparing me for future projects in my field.
