Task 01: Proposal Development
JUMP-LINK
- For starters, we split the parts equally within our group members.
- I was in charge of the art direction and the overall narrative of the storyline.
- This storyline was to raise awareness of the recent ongoing forest fire.
- It shows the fire from the perspective of different animals. Making the animals the main characters and how they lost their homes to the fire.
- Can maybe start with a real-life person having an imagination (for example a man smoking a cigarette and he was about to throw it into the grass but then he had a thought which leads to the main storyline and at the end he did not throw it into the grass)
- Act 2 is not interesting or eye-catching enough to catch the interest of the audience.
- exaggerate the obstacles and struggles to overcome the situation.
- Following the forest fire concept, this time we used a human main character and his experience.
- Miles as a firefighter trying to do his job but has a past trauma with fire.
- The story is about overcoming trauma and fear.
- The story is good but need to add further details with some research on how to overcome trauma and fear.
- It needs to connect with the audience and be relatable in some ways.
- Suggestion: can make the fire a villain character and Miles is fighting it.
- based on sir's feedback, we decided to further develop the story by adding more research and details to act 2.
- We also took sirs suggestion with the fire character to make it more interesting and fun.
- We decided on 2D animation with a hint of 3D As our animation style because of our specific specializations and what we are mainly good at.
- Our overall animation will be about 2-3 minutes maximum.
- We used a miro board to create out art direction concept
- We decided to use Tadashi from Bighero6 as our main character inspiration as his personality fits Miles the best.
- Following his body shape and facial features closely.
- We also had other characters such as Nanami as a reference for body shape.
FINAL SUBMISSION
The proposal development process was a structured and collaborative effort, where I led the art direction and narrative. Initially, our concept focused on forest fires from the perspective of animals, but with the feedback suggested by my lecturers , it is suggetsed that a more engaging approach would be better. We revised the story to center on Miles, a firefighter that is overcoming trauma, incorporating research on fear and resilience. The idea of making fire a villainous character added intensity. We chose a 2D animation style with subtle 3D elements, referencing Tadashi from Big Hero 6 for Miles' design and Manhattan for the setting. Using a Miro board, we refined our artistic vision, ensuring a compelling and visually engaging final animation.
